Meet Nicole aka Nxx
With a love for books and words since she was six years old, Nicole “Nxx” Hawkins started her career early, writing a storybook before she could ride a bike!
Although Chicago born and Jamaican-bred, she grew up in Orlando for most of her life. Her love for writing expanded into entertainment, influencing her decision to become a double major in Mass Communications (Radio, TV, Film & Theater) and English Literature.
After being awarded 2nd place in a theatrical directing class, she knew entertainment was her path. Her internships spanned from writing for the NFL to talking on the air at 102Jamz and editing television production and promotions for FOX35, as well as crew work for local churches and events for ten years.
For the next ten years, Hawkins worked on personal projects and professional scriptwriting while learning to direct, produce, and edit independent projects. As a public school teacher, her last drama show was hailed “the best show the school’s ever had.” After teaching English Literature and Drama for 15 years, she left to produce podcasting projects, instructional design and more.
She finished her first book and autobiography, The Breakfast Girl, and started her own production company, WordSpoke Media.
WordSpoke is the culmination of her talent in creating content, ranging from instructional design to original media — podcasts, television, web series, full-length features and documentaries. She partnered up with The CLIC organization to rewrite the narrative on Black girls in American culture, < What U C (More Than What You See), which premiered June 2021.
Hawkins is now pursuing her career in Orlando, FL.
